Rochester Coalition for Quality Development

Kicks off with Rally in Downtown Rochester

On May 30th the construction business received a “shot in the arm”, with the announcement of the formation and kick-off of the Rochester Coalition for Quality Development (RCQD), based in Rochester, MN.

The group held a kick-off rally announcing its intentions in playing an active role in policy making concerning the future growth of the city.

Leaders of the group say Rochester is poised to experience an explosion of construction and development in the next decade and that the RCQD will be working to ensure responsible development is in order to maintain the high level of quality and safety that the community of Rochester expects.

One of the group’s major concerns is the possibility of developers undercutting the safety, quality and economic justice standards that have been prevalent in the Rochester Community for years. “Past experience has shown us that where millions of dollars are being invested in growth, players more concerned about making money than benefitting the community often appear on the scene,” said Russell Hess, representative of the group.

Part of the groups’ mission will be to highlight and promote good developments, while also calling attention to developments that don’t match the RCQD’s criteria as a sound development for the overall community.

Rochester Coalition for Quality Development Mission Statement:

The RCQD works to strengthen our community’s future. We will insist on development and construction practices that promote high standards of quality, education, safety and economic justice to ensure that Rochester’s future will be built on a solid foundation.
