The Mall of America is looking to create not only the single largest retail complex in the world, but also one of the biggest construction expansions in Minnesota history.

“We think it makes good business sense for Mall of America.” said Kurt Hagen, Vice President of Development for the Mall of America, in regard to the proposed Mall of America expansion.  Hagen and the building trades announced before a large gathering that they have entered into a project labor agreement for the proposed Phase 2 expansion project.  “The labor agreement is a symbol of quality of work and high standards and continues a great relationship that has lasted for 20 years.  Signing the Agreement helps bring the project in on time, on budget with the highest level of craftsmanship.” he added.

The proposed expansion of the Bloomington, Minnesota retail Mecca will create $800 million in construction worker wages while adding 5.6 million square feet to the Mall of America facility, making it an even bigger world-wide attraction.

Senator Thomas Bakk also passionately addressed the crowd, “We’ve got to grow these jobs in this State with our own citizens.  We are here to show the public that Labor and management can work together and build this State!”
