Type: Xcel Energy Metro Emissions Reduction Program (MERP)
Project Details: A new upgraded and more efficient energy plant is being constructed at the existing site. The plant will be friendlier to the environment and is much more aesthetically appealing to all area residents. The plant will reduce emissions by 90%, in comparison to the existing plant, while increasing Megawatt production by over 200MW.
Start Date: February, 2006 Est. Completion Date: May, 2008
Current Project Status: 48% Complete
Safety Record: 250,000 Man Hours without a lost time accident.
Safety Recognition: Project selected as a MNSTAR Worksite by MN- DOLI.

Subcontractors: Knutson Construction / Axel Ohman Inc. / Azco Inc.

Overcoming Obstacles: The project is environmentally exposed with the proximity of the river. Surrounding the project is existing and new newer residential development.
